Modules
00 - 3ds Max in a Nutshell
Interactive session to develop your first building and apply materials and effects, eases the delegate into 3ds Max Design and enthuses learning.
01 - Introducing 3ds Max as a BIM tool
We look at how 3ds Max fits into the BIM ecosystem and what it promises in terms of visual improvements.
02 - Introduction, UI Tour and tool navigation
This module provides a guided tour of the user interface for 3ds Max and shows you how to find your way around the user interface and the various screen elements.
03 - Working concepts, key tools and basic file setup
In this module you are introduced to some of the key concepts for using 3ds Max, we look at the surface modeller, materials and workflows.
04 - Basic object creation, transformation & modification
We explore basic modelling and control concepts, the very hub of object creation and editing that 3ds Max has to offer.
05 - 2D Splines to 3D Modelling Basics
Use mesh modelling to create two furniture components, a stool and a table prior to using text.
06 - Creating and Manipulating Editable Polys
Poly Modelling, often described as the “exciting part of modelling”, as this is where all the cool shapes are created, with only your imagination to limit yourself.
07 - Importing and working with .DWG & .MAX files
Here we transform an imported file, by completing a practical exercise to convert 2D to 3D and learn some of the techniques of building models in 3ds Max at the same time.
08 - Creating and Applying Materials & Textures
Introducing some of the influences on the choice of material types and their associated rendering engines.
09 - Creating Light and Shadow
Discover the art of lighting, both internal and external and how lighting the scene is dependent upon the renderer being used.
10 - Camera setup, clipping and manipulation
Cameras are the gateway out of the virtual world, here we look camera placement, manipulation and how to animate them.
11 - Rendering images and simple animation
Renderer is one of the most import aspects of 3ds Max, here we take a look at simple rendering that’s easy to setup using Final Gather – part of the Mental Ray Renderer.
